Hope is Alive for 2017!

Happy last day of 2016 everyone!  We made it!  We are still alive!

I love making New Year’s Resolutions.  I do it every year.  I think about my goals often, and how I can survive and thrive, despite having this painful and misunderstood chronic migraine disease.

I hope I helped educate people better over this past year.  I haven’t tried to hide my disease as much, like I did in the past.  I started this blog a couple years ago as a baby step toward being more vocal.  That helped me gain confidence about posting on my personal social media pages, like Facebook and Instagram.

So Thank YOU, my friends, for helping me grow.  Thank you for your support.  I love you all!  You bring so much to my life.

Please continue to have HOPE for 2017!  We can still have meaningful existences, even though they are painful ones.  We have so much to give to this world.  ❤

Helping Others Hope

What do you do or say to help others have hope?

How I Find Hope on a Dark Day

I was feeling emotionally low and mentally drained today.  Mind sabotage!!  So what do I do when I’m having a dark day, like today?

*Sending texts to friends

I think it helps to communicate with someone friendly, and let them know that I am feeling down.  It takes away that Isolation power that depression can have.

*Writing in my journal

This is where I feel safe to write down everything that I am feeling.  Sometimes the honesty of darkness helps, and I just let all the horrible feelings out.  Other times, I try to put things into a different perspective… I try to step outside of myself and see the bigger picture.  I also have my Gratitude journal, which is separate from my regular journal, so that I can *think happy thoughts* about all the good things in my life.

*Listening to music

Today (and many other days), my soundtrack was Incubus “Make Yourself.”  One of my favorite albums of all time.  It is so satisfying to sing along to the song “The Warmth” (especially that F bomb in the chorus :-P)

*Cooking or baking

Making delicious food is like a meditation for me, and today, my meditation ended with CUPCAKES!!!!

*TV or Movie Distraction

Song of Hope

What song gives you hope to hold, despite your migraines and how?

Ooh, I love this writing prompt today!  Music is a HUGE part of what keeps me going–in general–in life.  Any time I find a song with lyrics that I can relate to, I feel less alone in this world.  I couldn’t pick just one song, so here is my list of 3!

My #1 choice right now would be Paramore’s song called “Now.”

These lyrics are perfect for when it comes to singing about fighting (migraine) battles.

#2. City and Colour’s “Sleeping Sickness” is another one I listen to (and sing) a lot!  Love these lyrics:

This live performance sounds just as good (or even better!) than the recorded version.

#3. Twenty One Pilots “Migraine” is another great song, because this one is straight-up talking about Migraines.  Here’s a live version, and you can find the lyrics here.
